Theosis — Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Theosis ("we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Theosis mobile application (the "App"). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, or Switzerland, additional rights and disclosures apply — see "Your Rights" and "International Transfers" below.
1. Who We Are
The data controller is Theosis, based in Canada. For any privacy question, contact us at shevchenkomaxim2001@gmail.com.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Profile details — a first name (and, optionally, an email address) you enter during onboarding.
- Your questions and messages — the text you type into the AI chat, including any questions you ask.
- Prayer content — prayer requests and messages you post to the community Prayer Board (which you may submit anonymously or with a name).
- Your content — bookmarks, notes, saved verses, and reading preferences.
Information collected automatically:
- Device & app data — device model, operating system version, app version, language/locale, and a randomly generated app user identifier.
- Usage analytics — features used, screens viewed, and in-app events (collected via PostHog).
- Approximate location — derived from your IP address (country/region/city level) for analytics; we do not collect precise GPS location.
Information from Apple:
- Subscription status — when Apple processes your payment, it shares your subscription/transaction status with us. We never receive your full payment card details.
We do not require you to create a password-based account, and we do not knowingly collect more than what is described here.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide the App's core features (AI answers, daily readings, audio, Bible study, prayer board).
- To generate AI responses to your questions (see Section 4).
- To deliver notifications you choose (e.g., reading reminders).
- To manage subscriptions and free trials.
- To analyze and improve performance, engagement, and reliability.
- To maintain safety, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
4. AI Processing of Your Questions
When you use the chat or other AI features, the text you submit is sent to our AI provider, OpenAI, to generate a response. Devotional and daily reading content are likewise generated using OpenAI services. Please do not enter sensitive personal information (such as health, financial, or precise identifying details) into the chat. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate or incomplete and are provided for informational and devotional purposes only.
5. Service Providers & Third Parties
We share information with trusted providers who process data on our behalf:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | App distribution, subscription processing | Purchase / subscription status |
| OpenAI | AI chat, audio and content generation | Questions and text you submit |
| Supabase | Backend database & hosting | Profile and prayer board content |
| PostHog | Product analytics | In-app events, device & approximate-location data |
| bible-api.com | Bible verse delivery | Verse references requested |
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Legal Bases (EEA/UK/Switzerland)
Where GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the App and subscriptions); legitimate interests (to secure and improve the App); and consent (e.g., for notifications, where required). You may withdraw consent at any time.
7. International Transfers
We are based in Canada, and some of our providers (including OpenAI, Supabase, and PostHog) process data in the United States. Where we transfer data out of the EEA/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the App and for legitimate business or legal purposes. You can delete your data at any time (see Section 10). Prayer board posts may remain visible to the community unless you delete them.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your Rights & Choices
- In-app deletion: You can delete your account and associated data directly in the App via Settings → Delete Account.
- Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these, email shevchenkomaxim2001@gmail.com.
- California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know, delete, and opt out of "sale"/"sharing" (we do neither). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
- You can control notifications and tracking permissions in your device settings.
- EEA/UK users may lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, by providing additional notice in the App.
